Terms of use

By creating an account or using Sapere you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Sapere is run by Oliver Caplan, its founder. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean him, and these terms are an agreement between you and him.

Food, allergies and health

Always check ingredients yourself. Meal plans, recipes and dietary filtering are generated automatically, partly by AI, from receipts that may be misread and from recipe data we don't control. They can be wrong or incomplete. Sapere cannot guarantee that a meal is free of an allergen or suits a diet, and expiry estimates are guesses, not food-safety advice. Follow the labels on your food, and don't rely on the app where an allergy or medical condition is concerned.

Your account

• Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account.
• Give accurate details, and don't create accounts for anyone else without their permission.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

Fair use

Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break or overload it, to access other people's data, or to use it for anything unlawful. To keep the app running for everyone we limit how often some features (like receipt scanning and meal planning) can be used, and we may suspend accounts that abuse it. We also limit your pantry to 500 items; when you reach this limit, you must remove items before adding new ones. A meal plan counts towards your limit once it is made, even if our allergy and diet check then removes some or all of its dinners.

Your content

Your receipts, pantry and preferences stay yours. You let us process them only to provide the app, as described in our privacy policy. The app and its database are hosted in the United States.

Recipes from others

Recipes and photos in the taste trainer, your picks and the suggestions on your plan come from TheMealDB, the source of the data, and the sites they link to, which have their own terms. Links to recipe sites are provided for convenience; we aren't responsible for their content.

The service

Sapere is new and provided as it is. We may change, pause or stop features, and we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses arising from using the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.
